Kids Create: Fairy Homes

Fairy Home

Although we may be stuck inside, we can't forget to leave room for magic! There is no better way to foster a sense of wonder than by making tiny homes for some of the forest’s most enchanted creatures- fairies! For this simple, open-ended craft, kids can use their imaginations to construct their own tiny fairy home with simple materials and miscellaneous craft items.

 What you’ll need:

  • Paper cups, milk cartons, paper towel rolls
  • Decorative paper or construction paper
  • Scissors (to cut a door)
  • Decorative tape
  • Pompoms
  • Sequins
  • Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
  • Stickers

For the structure of the home, you can use a variety of materials from around the house such as paper cups, paper towel rolls or milk cartons. Windows and doors can be drawn with markers, crayons, or colored pencils or cut with scissors. The roof is most easily made with paper cut in the shape of a circle to make a cone. Once you have a base and a roof, the possibilities are endless! Miscellaneous craft supplies such as stickers, pompoms, sequins, tissue paper, and jewels can be glued to the home to complete the whimsy creation. After all, fairies love anything that sparkles.
