This episode of Book World is a Shine Time segment! You, your neighbors, and Brooklyn librarians shine in these photos and videos as you talk about the books you love. As you’ll see, some of our friends are still learning to talk and already love reading. Hey, reading the pictures counts, too! Talking with children about their interests, along with playing and reading books that explore those interests, are great ways to encourage a love for learning.
Check out some of these picture books that celebrate your little one’s beauty and uniqueness. You’ll also see titles for fun stories about children pursuing their interests.
Draw a picture of yourself doing what you love to do so you can join the other Superhero Readers on this coloring sheet. Draw the cover of your favorite book on this activity sheet.
Do you want your child to be featured on the next episode of Shine Time? The current topic is “everyday science”. Please send photos and videos (30 seconds or less) of you doing anything that relates to STEM by Monday, November 14, 2022. Examples include building things, observing animals and nature, doing home experiments (with supervision), noticing and playing with shapes, and using tools like rulers and magnifying glasses. Science is everywhere!
All ages, including teens, are welcome. Little kids love to see and learn from big kids!
If you're reading this blog after the science video deadline, you can send in photos and videos (30 seconds of less) of your children talking about a favorite book or visiting the library.
Email your submissions and questions to [email protected]. If chosen to be on the show, you will be emailed a photo/video release form to complete for each of the people featured in your submission.
