As the fall season brings festive holidays, kids can make decorations and keep organized with these crafts at the library.
Pipe Cleaner Spiders
During this decorative time of year, kids will enjoy creating these easy-to-make itsy bitsy spiders. Hang them in a window, wear them as rings, or place them somewhere frightening fun!
What you'll need:
- Pipe cleaners - black, brown or any color you like
- Pom poms - same colors as above
- Wiggly eyes
- Glue
- Scissors
Bunch four pieces of pipe cleaner and twist together in the middle, forming four "legs" on each side. Thread a piece of pipe cleaner through a pom pom and twist it around the middle. Separate and bend the legs. You can also bend a small piece at the bottom to form "feet." Stick on wiggly eyes with glitter glue.
DIY Back to School Pencil Pouch
By Tenzin Kalsang
Start the school year off by decorating a case for your pencils, pens, and other school supplies. Personalized school bags and pencil pouches are perfect and cuter than anything you can buy!
Start by placing the cardboard inside the pouch to prevent the ink from transferring through to the back. Just have them draw what is in their imagination! Another fun idea would be to let children choose their favorite book cover illustration as inspiration. The possibilities are endless!
Blank pencil cases were provided by New Lots Library.
