Plaza Renovation - June 2018

Thank you for your patience over the past month while we continued to worked on the Central Library plaza. Starting today, June 11, 2018, the center staircase will be closed for one day and will reopen on Tuesday June 12th. The construction fencing has been removed from the Eastern Parkway stairs and patrons are free to use those as well as both ADA ramps to enter the building. Portions of the Flatbush side stair will be inaccessible over the next few weeks as we shift our work to that side of the building, wrapping up all the work by June 30th.

A little construction fencing doesn't stop us from celebrating the start of summer reading. On Saturday, kids, adults, and families stopped by for a day of reading, face painting, creating, and jamming to music for Summer Jam 2018. Check out our calendar of events for summer reading programs across Brooklyn. Also join us for the Plaza Swing Series starting Wednesday July 11th with the Swingtime Big Band. Dance lessons start at 6:30, music at 7pm.

Renovation of the Central Library Plaza is made possible by a grant from the New York State Education Department’s State Aid for Library Construction fund.
