Events on the Plaza - through the years

The plaza at the Central Library in Grand Army Plaza has been an important community gathering and programming space for the library since opening in 1941. It has been used as a backdrop during major borough and library annoucements, to host our Summer Reading kick-off, a gathering point for Bike the Branches, and a playground for dogs for last year's Pups on the Plaza event. In the summer, you can enjoy swing dancing, live music and much more. We look forward to providing more entertaining and educational programming once our plaza renovation is complete at the end of June. In the meantime, enjoy these photos of events and renovations through the years.
